Fashion Valet

Hello! As promised, today I would like to share with everyone one of the most successful online store in Malaysia who are using websites to sell their product. The exclusive online store that I mean is Fashion Valet. I’m sure most of you are familiar with Fashion Valet right? Feeling curious on how technology help them success in business world? Let’s check it out!

FashionValet was born in Nov 2010 by it co-founder Vivy Sofinas Yusof and her husband, Fadzar Anuar. They were the first multi-label online site in Malaysia at the time and they started their business with only 10 brands. Thanks to this technology era in which people love to shop online, their business has expand rapidly. Now they stock over 400 fashion designers and brands from South East Asia. They started their first flagship retail store in Bangsar Village, KL and are in the midst of setting up in Singapore and Brunei.

Co-founder of Fashion Valet

The idea of build Fashion Valet started when the founders of Fashion Valet studied in western country. Both of them studied in the UK where online consumerism was a part of daily life – you could even buy your groceries with the click of a button!  They enjoyed the convenience of shopping online and it soon took over the way we conventionally shopped. After graduating university and returning to Malaysia, they realised that e-commerce was nonexistent at home back in 2010. After being frustrated at the lack of online shopping options available in Malaysia, they decided to introduce the new way to shop to Malaysian.

Vivy Yusof stated that meeting local brands every day and convincing them of this new idea was easy because they were excited about the new online shopping phenomenon, and with my blog following, we connected the 2 parties (designers and customers) together. This shows us that technology play a vital role to make customers aware of the existence Fashion Valet. In building their business, they do have some challenge as everything was outsourced in the beginning from website design to payment gateway to managing bugs etc.  They also realize the importance of technology; after all, they’re a tech company first. So they have hired a big engineering team in their company to constantly improve shopping experience on the website, building their own system linking warehouse and operations together, building apps, linking online and online channels together.

After all, they are now is one of the outstanding people in business world. This is all thank to the existence of modern technology. Feel motivated join business online after read about the Fashion Valet background? I will boost your motivation in my next post by giving another successful online store in Malaysia. Stay tuned guys!

Website Replace Physical Store

Hey there! Nice to meet you. Today I would like to tell you the latest way businessmen do their business. In these modern days, some of the retailers more prefer to involve in online store only. Actually, there is no big differences between online store and physical store as both stores are sharing the same goals which to sale products.
Usually, the online entrepreneur will build a website to replace the usually physical store. In relation to this, a website owner needs to do whatever it takes to optimize his or her website, as in a lot of cases, it is the sole gateway to potential customers. The fact that there is no physical person there to answer any questions or guide online visitors, makes is even more imperative to have a website that “flows” naturally to improve experiences and hence increase sale conversions.
Here are the things that you need to consider when you manage a website:
ü  Just a random list of things to potentially consider:
ü  Are visitors finding what they need?
ü  Are visitors getting most, if not all, of their questions answered?
ü  What are the loading times of the website pages?
ü  Does the landing page persuade visitors to stay and look around?
ü  What color should the buttons be in order to increase click through rate (seriously, studies have shown that more online visitors click on orange buttons on average)
ü  Should I place Product X on top of Product Y, but below Product Z?
Arguably, due to the fact that there is a lack of customer service representatives to immediately serve online visitors, improving online visitors’ experiences in e-commerce Stores becomes far more critical than physical stores.
In short, I think before anybody start business online, they need some skills on how to make use of the available modern technologies. If not, these technologies will become useless and can’t be any help in the business world. That’s all for this entry. Have a nice day ahead loves!

Let’s me tell you their story. Enjoy the journey.

Noor Neelofa Mohd. Noor, popularly known as Neelofa, is a stunning actress and television presenter with 1.4 million followers on Twitter and 2.2 million on Facebook. She’s also a savvy entrepreneur and the face of fashion firm Naelofar Hijab, her family owned company. In just over a year the company has become one of Malaysia’s biggest headscarf brands and is looking at export markets. Sales at Naelofar, where no scarf costs more than 100 ringgit, reached 50 million ringgit this year, more than twice the family’s target. This is all thanks to the Neelofa’s popularity and the existence of technology.
NEELOFA- The Face of Naelofar Hijab
To be specifically, Neelofa as the face of Naelofar Hijab is using undirected TV advertising and social media to market their product. She’s a Malaysian celebrity with millions of fans. Every time she appears on screen, her adoring fans immediately rush to buy whatever she might have chosen to wear that day — including her headscarves. Then, Nabila who is Neelofa’s sister also mentioned about how social media play a vital role to put Naelofar Hijab at their place now. “When people say it’s an untapped market, it’s really an untapped market,” she said. “Social media really changed it altogether.

The company sells its products at its flagship store in Kuala Lumpur. In Naelofar Hijab’s flagship store it is always full house. We can see older women with partners and children in tow, younger women in skinny jeans and tunics are browsing though the rails to get Naelofar Hijab. That is how successful Naelofar Hiajb is.

Meanwhile, Naelofar Hijab also sell their scarfs online. They sell it through a network of 700 distributors nationwide. They sell online and ship to anywhere in the world. With distributors in Singapore, Brunei, London, Australia, Netherlands and US, the goal is for Naeolfar to be a global brand. Everyday, their staff will updates their new collection, available stocks and upcoming products on their official website which is naelofarhijab.com. This is very helpful for Naelofar Hiajb team as some people nowadays hate to go out to shop. So, for these people they can just click their mouse or touch their smart phone to purchase Naelofar Hijab. This convenience situation has proven be a big help to increase sale in Naelofar Hijab.

As a conclusion, Naelofar Hijab has choose to use both physical store and online store. In my opinion, they have make a very good decision as they are now is one of the leading scarf brand in Malaysia. Me personally is very proud of Neelofa as although she is still in a young age, she manage to be one of the most successful entrepreneur in Malaysia. Anybody here is the fan of Neelofa? Never forget to leave you comments. Thank you for your time.

How Businessmen Do Marketing for Their Product in Old Days

Assalamualaikum everyone! I’m so excited today to continue our journey to the old times. As I promised in my last post, this entry will bring you to discover how businessmen in old days did marketing for their business. Happy reading guys!

The term “marketing” is officially born in 1904. At the time, the industry was focused on increasing production and marketing was little more than efficient product distribution. Next, in 1910, a famous quote from Henry Ford sums up the spirit of marketing in this decade perfectly: "They can have any colour they want as long as it's black."Marketing efforts at this time focused on pushing what you were producing, since products pretty much sell themselves at this point. Then, the birth of radio in the1920s increases the reach of advertisers, and marketing ideas start to look for the best way to use this new technology, although at this point it is mainly to make customers aware that a product exists.

With the advent of TV in 1941 and an increase in phone use in the 40s, the 50s era are a hotbed for marketing ideas. As marketing professionals look for ways to capitalize on new communication technologies and to deal with savvier customers, the marketing concept is born. Marketing concept is the search for the balance between Product, Price, Promotion, and Place. Furthermore, the 70s were a great time for new marketing ideas, and they mark the birth of synergy marketing. Synergy is defined as “the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements.”Synergy marketing is what happens for example when a new animated movie comes out, McDonald’s offers the toys for the film with the Happy Meal, Disney parks create an attraction related to the film, and the film manages to name drop McDonald’s.

Marketing gets personal in the 80s, when experts in the field start seeing sales as building a relationship instead of a one-time transaction. CRM (customer relationship management) becomes a powerful tool for marketing, as interactions with potential customers are now tracked to follow up on what is now called “the customer lifecycle” from cold prospect to buyer. Another interesting marketing idea from the 80s is “guerrilla marketing”, which relies on shock and originality to advertise and promote a product or service with very little budget.

Wow! I am quite impressed with some of the marketing strategies in past. Don’t you all think so? Well, never hesitate to share your thought and comments regarding this topic. See you next time! Be safe till we meet again. Bye!

How People Do Business in Past

Hello everyone! How are you all doing these days? I hope all of you enjoy wonderful days in your life. Okay peeps! Before we travelled further to the world of technology in business, I would to take all of you to ride the time machine so that we can turn to the older times. Let’s us together explore how people in the pass did their business. Ready? Let’s go!

The world of business has undergone a major face lift over the last 20 years. While some business practices have remained the same, other aspects of doing business are radically different today. The way people engage in business transactions, for example, has taken on a new life of its own. Twenty years ago, the general widespread public use of the Internet was still in its early stages. While people were getting over the initial wow factor of creating websites, learning new ideas, and using email, corporations were rapidly vying for control of the online marketplace. So, in business only took place in physical building. There was no such thing like shopping online for those who live in older era. Furthermore, only minimum numbers of customers were having trust to online transaction during that time as it is a very uncommon thing to do in past.

In relation to that, people in past focus their business activity mainly using physical store. They give their full commitment and effort to make sale in that particular store. Everything  like updating stocks and calculating sale  need to be done manually as the technology available at that time is very limited. Furthermore, the physical store run by businessmen in old days also is not like what we have today. It is just a simple physical store with less modern technology used.
In short, I think doing business is more challenging in past as everything needs to be done manually without the help of modern technology. Okay! I think that’s it for this entry. I hope everyone manage to gain something from this post. We will continued to ride this time machine in my next post to know how people do marketing for their business in past. Till we meet again! Bye.
